Well, it's a little after mid night on the 19th....Jamie is sleeping well and so is Josiah.
Jamie is doing well though she was pretty sore today. The highlight of her day was that she was able to get out of bed very early this morning (around 4:30am) to go see Josiah. She hadn't been able to since he was in the NICU because she hadn't been able to get out of bed. As you can imagine it was hard for her being away from him. She was able to get into a wheel chair and go see him three times today.
Josiah is doing well but they had to put a tube in his side today. He has a hole in one of his lungs and it is allowing air into the sack that surrounds his lungs which in turn makes it harder for him to breath. The tube is there to pull the air out of the sack around his lungs so that he can breath easier. They have told us that the hole in his lungs should heal within a week or so. Besides that, he is doing well and has been holding steady. One improvement that I noticed today was that his numbers seem a bit steadier. Yesterday, and earlier today, when we would hold his hand or touch him, his numbers (heart rate, respitory rate, O2 levels) would go all over the place...that hasn't been happening this evening - good sign.
From here on out, the plan is just to let him get as much rest as possible and for him just to hang out in the NICU for as long as it takes for his lungs to fully develop....it will be about a week to two weeks. Obviously we're hoping for a week but we want him to be 100% before we take him home. He's a good lookin' kid and we're excited that God has brought him into our life.
I know that some of you have been texting/calling and we haven't been getting back to you - my apologies...but as you can imagine, we've gotten a lot of texts/calls and there is a lot going on . If you're in the area and would like to come in, feel free, just please call me first (971-221-4471) as Jamie sometimes gets worn out and needs to rest....I'd hate for you to drive here just to have to leave if she's sleeping.
Hey Robbie -- Give Jamie a {{HUG}} for me. I am so glad that she got to go down to the NICU. He is one beautiful baby boy. That is such a good picture of you holding your son. I know Kathy and Jen can't wait to see you all. Our prayers are still with you on a daily basis. God has Josiah in His mighty, healing hands. Much love to you both.
